Dr. Eric Berg, a well-known chiropractor and health educator, recommends two key supplements for individuals managing diabetes: Benfotiamine (a synthetic form of vitamin B1) and Alpha Lipoic Acid. While Dr. Berg suggests higher dosages—Benfotiamine four times daily and Alpha Lipoic Acid three times daily, I personally follow the manufacturer’s suggested use, taking one capsule of each per day. Despite the lower dosage, I’ve found this routine to be effective and beneficial.

1. Benfotiamine

·        Product Highlights:

·        Non-GMO and gluten-free

·        Free from wheat, yeast, milk, lactose, soy, artificial colors, and artificial flavors

·        Contains 300 mg of Benfotiamine per serving

·        A highly bioavailable, fat-soluble form of Thiamine (Vitamin B1)

·        Derived from sources naturally present in legumes and grains

·        Health Benefits:

·        Helps maintain blood glucose levels already within a normal range*

·        Supports nervous system health and energy metabolism*

·        Especially helpful for those with thiamine deficiency or at risk of it

About Benfotiamine: Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble derivative of thiamine, part of the B-vitamin family. This version is known for its superior absorption compared to standard thiamine and may offer enhanced support for individuals concerned with nerve function and glucose metabolism.

2. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

·        Product Highlights:

·        Supports healthy sugar metabolism*

·        Known as the “universal antioxidant” for its dual solubility (water- and fat-soluble)

·        Promotes antioxidant health and nervous system function*

·        No artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, or allergens such as milk, soy, gluten, or wheat

·        Health Benefits:

·        May help improve insulin sensitivity*

·        Supports cellular energy production*

·        Protects against oxidative stress, particularly in nerve tissues*

Note: Both products are commonly available in clean-label formulations, non-GMO and free from common allergens. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if managing a chronic condition like diabetes.
